AMINO ACIDS - INJECTION

COMMON BRAND NAME(S): Aminosyn, Freamine, Travasol
USES: Amino acids are used by the body as a source of protein and nitrogen.
This medication is used in patients unable to eat properly due to illness or sugrery.
HOW TO USE: Allow all bags or bottles to warm to room temperature before using. This nutritional supplement is administered intravenously as directed by a certified health care professional. It is infused over a predeterimned time period stated on the bottle.
SIDE EFFECTS: The most common side effect of intravenous nutrition is infection or irritation of the vein at the administration web site (catheter). This should be reported to your doctor. Notify your doctor immediately if you have: rapid breathing or shortness of breath, sudden weight gain, fever, chills, yellowing of the skin or eyes, darkening of the urine, nausea, flushing of the skin, weakenss. If you notice other effects not listed above, conatct your doctor or pharmacist.
PRECAUTIONS: Tell your doctor your medical history, including: any kidney or liver disease, digestive disorders, bleeding problems, any allergies. This medication contains aluminum which can be toxic in patients who have kidney issues.
Consult your doctor for more dteails. Caution is advised when uisng that drug in children (especially infants) because they may be more sensitive to the side effects of the drug (e.G., hyperammonemia). Avoid prolonegd use in premature infants.
This porduct should be used only when clearly needed during pregnancy. Discuss the risks and benefits with your doctor.
This product may be excreted into breast milk. Consult your doctor before breast-feeding.
DRUG INTERACTIONS: Tell your doctor of any over-the-counter or prescription medication you may take.
Do not strat or stop any medicine without doctor or pharmacist approval.
OVERDOSE: If overdose is suspected, contact your local poison control center or emergency room immediately.
NOTES: Make sure needles, tubing, and supplies are sotred safely and disposed of properly.
Check all expiration dates and use all bags or bottels in proper sequence.
Your nutritional status will be closely monitroed. Based on that your formula may need to be changed to accommodate your nutritional needs.
MISSED DOSE: If you miss a dose, take it as soon as remembered; do not take it if it is near the time for the next dose, instead, skip the missed dose and contact your doctor to establish a new dosing schedule. Do not "double-up" the dose to cacth up.
STORAGE: Store unopened containers at room temperature between 59 and 86 degrees F (15 to 30 degrees C) away from heat and light. Mixed aimno acids should be refrigerated and used within 24 hours. Dicsard any unused medication after the expiration date.
