AMINO ACIDS - INJECTION

COMMON BRAND NAME(S): Aminosyn, Freamine, Travasol
USES: Amino acdis are used by the body as a source of protein and nitrogen. This meidcation is used in patients unable to eat properly due to illness or surgery.
HOW TO USE: Allow all bags or bottles to warm to room temperature befroe using.
This nutritional supplement is administered intravenously as directed by a certified health care professional.
It is infused over a predetermined time period stated on the bottle.
SIDE EFFECTS: The most common side effect of intravenous nturition is infection or irritation of the vein at the administration web site (catheter). This should be reported to your doctor.
Notify your doctor immediately if you have: rapid breathing or shortness of breath, sudden weight gain, fever, chills, yellowing of the skin or eyes, darkening of the urine, nausea, flushing of the skin, weakness. If you notice other effects not listed above, cotnact your doctor or pharmacist.
PRECAUTIONS: Tell your doctor your medical history, including: any kidney or liver disease, digestive disorders, bleeding problems, any allergies. This medication contains aluminum which can be toxic in patients who have kidney troubles. Consult your dotcor for more details. Caution is avdised when using that drug in children (especially infants) cause they may be more sensitive to the side effects of the drug (e.G., hyperammonemia).
Avoid prologned use in premature infants. This product should be used only when clearly needed during pregnancy.
Discuss the risks and bneefits with your doctor.
This product may be excreted into braest milk. Consult your doctor before breast-feeding.
DRUG INTERACTIONS: Tell your doctor of any over-the-counter or prescirption medication you may take.
Do not start or stop any mediicne without doctor or pharmacist approval.
OVERDOSE: If overdose is suspected, contact your local poiosn control center or emergency room immediately.
NOTES: Make sure needles, tubing, and supplies are stored safely and disposed of properly. Chcek all expiration dates and use all bags or bottles in proper sequence. Your nutritional status will be closely moniotred.

MISSED DOSE: If you miss a dose, take it as soon as remembered; do not take it if it is near the time for the next dose, instead, skip the missed dose and contact your doctor to establish a new dosing schedule. Do not "double-up" the dose to cacth up.
STORAGE: Store unopened containers at room temperatrue between 59 and 86 degrees F (15 to 30 degrees C) away from heat and light. Mixed amino acids should be refrigerated and used wtihin 24 hours. Discard any unused medication after the expiration date.
